Craft Fair...

This one is at St John's at the West End in Edinburgh and is on from Friday 9th December to 11th  December from 11am to 6pm each day...help!
I've been at it again, making some more bird collages. I just love making them, they are such good fun. I'll have these ones with me at the craft fair.
The heart pictures are new but I forgot to photograph them before I put them in cellophane.
I quite like them so I hope they'll do well.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, it was dark outside and I didn't use the flash!

Craft fairs...

New little chooks just in time for my next craft fair.
I will be at the Royal Concert hall in Glasgow at the 3D/2D craft fair on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November 2011.
I will be selling a selection of framed and unframed pictures along with some cards and brooches. I will also have a few festive things for sale, cards and hanging ornaments.

Amongst the unframed pieces will be my new collaged mixed media birds which I have made to fit into an Ikea Ribba frame.
I will also have more unframed pieces like the one below.

I will also be attending the 3D/2D craft fair at Edinburgh on the 9th - 11th December 2011. more details later.
I'm off to do more work.
Bye for now.

In progress...

Working on a few new unframed pieces. I'm making them square so that they can be framed in an Ikea Ribba frame. I'll be selling them unframed.

These ones still have to have to be hand stitched with more grasses and flowers to finish them off. I'm working on several at the same time along with a selection of collaged birds. I'm hoping to have them finished for my next craft fair. I've booked up a couple with 3d/2d. I'll post the dates later.
Bye for now.

Brooches

A few leaf shaped brooches that I've been working on. They are my usual layering of fabric, yarns and free machine (motion) embroidery. I've added a random selection of beads, seed and bugle.
The fabric piece that I'd made was fairly small and I can cut approx. six brooches from it. I suppose you could say that they were a limited edition although each one is unique because of the variety in the beading.
I intend making more of these brooches in different colourways but still keeping to small numbers. I've made one set with a turquoise edge but haven't photographed them yet as they're not beaded
I'll post some more photos soon.
Bye for now,

new designs

Some collaged birds with free machining. I've made them so that they will fit into an Ikea frame.
They are great fun to make

These pieces are mounted onto artists canvases and are quite small.

I enjoyed working the hand stitching on these ones but it's amazing how long it takes to stitch by hand. Most of my work these days is worked by machine so I've enjoyed getting back to basics, simple running stitch is one of my favourites.
Roll on the Festival!

PITTENWEEM ARTS FESTIVAL 2011

Just a quick reminder to say that the Pittenweem Arts Festival is about to start. It runs from Saturday 6th August to Sunday 14th August 2011. Most venues have a private view on Friday evening (5th August). I will have work displayed in Funky Scottish which is on the High Street near the Festival office.
I'll post some photos of my work soon...I'm still finishing things off!!!
Bye for now.

Back on track...

I've managed to get myself out of this non-creative hole that I've been in recently, thank goodness.
I'd received an order for some of my flower brooches recently which has helped to motivate me into action. Here are a selection of the 'almost' finished ones (I've still to sew the brooch pins on the back!).

There may not have been a whole lot of action lately but I have had my thinking cap on. Maybe the hole I mentioned wasn't that big after all! Anyway...
The leaves above are one of the results. I've added sequins & beads to one of them but I don't like it. Maybe a bit more thought required on these or maybe I'll just leave them and pop them on a card as a gift. Forgot to say that they are supposed to be brooches.
Ah, ha! Yes these are definitely new. Just a sneak peek for now. They are little pictures approx 4 1/2" square and will be unframed. I still have to mount them onto board so I'll show them once I've done that.

Collaged pieces with lots of things that I love to work with. Free machine embroidery, frayed edges, fabric snips, lace and paper.
Drawing with the machine, it's just so much fun!
Basically there's a whole lot of scribbling and doodling on these pieces. Just the ticket!

Now that I've made a start I'm hoping to build up my stock and keep things more up to date. Sounds like a plan...let's hope that I can keep to it for once!
Be back soon! :o)

I'll have a few new pieces with me, this is one of them. Sorry about the photo it's not very clear. The theme for February is hearts...of course!
